Kind of odd that she felt it necessary to respond to your request multiple times and then complain on Twitter. I mean, it's a pretty common occurrence to get "friend" requests from people you don't, or barely, know (isn't it?). I agree, it's a good idea to send a note with a friend request as S.O.P unless it's an extremely close friend that you're 100% certain won't deny your request.
