Hi there. And welcome to what we hope will be a valuable resource you can reference throughout the seasons. The idea for this resource stems from our winter 2007 agency summit brainstorming session. We noticed there were Sterlingers who were doing good things in our community on their own individual time, in addition to participating in the agency wide activities that are hosted on a quarterly basis. And we thought there may be others out there interested in participating more in their communities, but not sure how to get started, in terms of how best to map their interests to the opportunities available.
So we’re here to help. This resource is our effort to guide your way. It includes sections on the benefits of volunteering and what types of opportunities are out there. We also offer some organizations that may be of interest to check out, that vary by location, people they serve, levels of training required, etc. We then offer a couple of FAQ-style references of questions you can ask of yourself to help discover what type of opportunity is right for you and then questions you can ask of an organization to determine if it’s the right fit. Here's the breakdown:
- Benefits of volunteering
- Types of opportunities
- List of volunteer organizations
- Questions to ask of yourself
- Questions to ask of potential organizations
Our final three sections profile Sterling and its employees. We include profiles on Sterlingers and some of their individual efforts, as well as a photo gallery and press release archive that documents some of Sterling’s past outings… planting trees, pruning rose bushes, spending time at food banks, donating clothes, etc.
- Features about Sterlingers who volunteer
- Photo Gallery of past Sterling activities
- Press release archive of past Sterling activities
We'd love for this to be a dynamic resource, so if you have a suggestion to help improve this site, don't hold back! Let us know. Enjoy!
